Rosemeade Pottery
by Wahpeton Pottery Company
1940-1961
Wahpeton, North Dakota

Presentation by Linda & Bill Bakken
March 11, 2003

On March 11, the Wisconsin Pottery Association had a presentation on Rosemeade Pottery by Linda & Bill Bakken.  The thirty seven members of the audience got several laughs and lots of information out of their interesting PowerPoint presentation.  Rosemeade Pottery was made by the Wahpeton Pottery Company in Wahpeton, North Dakota from 1940 to 1961.  In the 40's & 50's the pottery was making around a 1,000 pieces a day.  A designer of over 200 items was Laura Taylor Hughes, who also worked as a potter and was co-founder of the company.  Below are some of the items displayed at the presentation.

These two swordfish vividly show why you need to clean the salt out of shakers.  The shaker to the left lost most of its glaze due to salt being kept in it.
